NANS KICKS AGAINST N2500 POST UTME SCREENING FEE
NANS KICKS AGAINST N2,500 POST-UTME 'SCREENING FEE'
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), condemns in its totality, the introduction of the 'Admission Screening Fee of N2,500' by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Education.
NANS, which has been, and will always be against any and every kind of exploitation of Nigerian students in any guise, was relieved by the recent Ban on Post-UTME, as it was a long overdue decision to end the exploitation of Nigerian students seeking admission. The Ban on Post-UTME was a policy that endeared the FG to the hearts of Nigerian masses, it was widely jubilated and welcomed by all concerned stakeholders in the Nigerian Education sector. It is surprising, appalling, anti-masses, and unethical, for the Federal Government, to bow to the pressure from the head of tertiary institutions by making a U turn to reintroduce the 'Post-UTME Screening Fee'. It is tantamount to the FG being insensitive to the growing economic meltdown being experienced by the parents and guardians of these prospective students all over the country. Then one begins to wonder - where is the consistency in the policy formulation of the APC-led FG?
Furthermore, NANS views the introduction of the 'Post-UTME Screening Fee' as another way of extorting and exploiting potential Nigerian Students. It is another dubious and cunning avenue of enriching the management of various tertiary institutions across the length and breadth of Nigeria.
It is on this note that NANS, as the custodian of the rights and privileges of the entire Nigerian Students, is stating emphatically that the students are no longer comfortable with this current administration and her fluctuating, criss-carpeting policies in the Education Sector in particular and other sectors in general. Due to this unstable and 'voodoo' policies, the economy of the country is in a comatose state, on the brink of collapse.
In view of the above, NANS, first and foremost, hereby pass a vote of 'No Confidence' on the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, with a request for his removal as the Minister of Education.
Secondly, NANS also declares a 'Vote of No Confidence' on the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. We hereby call on all members of the National Assembly - the Senate and the House of Representatives, to begin, as a matter of National importance and patriotic interest, the impeachment process against the President on the basis of incompetency in the discharge of his duty as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Nigerian Students can no longer keep mute in the face of the general hardship confronting the Nigerian masses. Our parents and guardians have become incapable of sending us 'pocket money/stipends' for our upkeep talkless of paying for our tuition fees. The Food and Provision stores in all our various campuses are undergoing abysmally low patronage from students due to the ever increasing high price tag of virtually all commodities. We can not continue to keep mute while our future is being mortgaged and shortchanged by this present administration.
Enough of the pre-election cajole of the APC, it is time for post-election performance by the APC. It is advisable that President Muhammadu Buhari resigns honourably, as it is obvious that the task of managing the country is too enormous and herculean for his aged fragile shoulders, before the National Assembly commences impeachment process against him. President Muhammadu Buhari should resign honourably and allow Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who has proven to be very competent on economic matters take over and pilot the affairs of the country.
Finally, NANS gives the Federal Government, and the Ministry of Education, a 3-working day Ultimatum to reverse it's decision on imposition of 'Post-UTME Screening Fee', as the most important stakeholder in the Nigerian Education sector - the Nigerian Students (through NANS) were not a party to the clandestine meeting and fraudulent arrangement that reached the anti-students decision to impose and introduce 'Post-UTME Screening Fee'. It will be better they toe the path of honour, reason and patriotic service by making the 'Post-UTME Screening Excercise' free for all prospective Nigerian students. Failure to keep to this objective, progressive and sacrosanct demand will result in NANS mobilising, in full strength, to stage a week long protest at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Education, Abuja.

Feeling Stuck? 4 Ways To Make A Change In Your Life [A Must Read]
Have you ever felt stuck in one place? Or wondered what you’re
actually doing with your life? Do you feel like you have nowhere to go
until you do your time, and all you can think of is how much you want to
get away and move on to the next adventure? We’ve all been there,
whether it is comparing our lives to others, a hangover day when we’re
seriously questioning the antics from the night before or when we just
have too much time on our hands.
To avoid driving yourself mad, next time you’re feeling stuck or that you might not be living your life to its fullest potential, remember these few points:
Find Your Passion
Give yourself a break. Maybe you just haven’t found your passion in life yet, and that’s perfectly okay. After all, how are you supposed to know what you really want to do if you don’t test the waters by casting out the net as far and wide as possible?
Take up a new hobby you think you might be interested in. What have you got to lose?
If it doesn’t work out, you can’t say you didn’t try and you’ll know that you definitely don’t want to do it. If it does work out, then it will bring you endless joy, a sense of accomplishment and even an extremely successful career.
It’s Never Too Late
It really is never too late to change the course of your life. If you’re genuinely unhappy where you are or with where your life is going, it is up to you to change it.
Who says when you can or can’t start something new and whether or not you might succeed at it? Listen to your heart and your head will follow. If it’s something you really want to do, the only thing getting in the way is you.
Think being in your 20s is too late to change your life? Being in your 20s is the perfect time. You have worldly experience, you’ve probably lived alone, you know what you value and you know that there’s so much more in the world to learn about.
Your 20s is the only time you’ll have all this knowledge, minus the endless responsibilities that come with your 30s. The time is now.
Don’t Compare Yourself To Others
Okay, so I need to take my own advice here, but it’s true. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side; it’s greener where it’s watered.
If you put as much effort into improving or changing your own circumstances as you did following the life of someone else, imagine where you could be. This is your life; you are responsible for grabbing it by the reigns and controlling where it goes.
Oh, you’re not known internationally? You don’t have millions in the bank, yet? Just imagine where you could be in five years time if you put your mind to it. You never know; people could be wishing for your life in years to come.
Be Happy
At the end of the day, it’s all about being happy, right? If you’re happy where you are and where you’re going, fantastic. If you’re not and you really are wondering why you’re stuck in this job or internship, maybe it is time to get out.
Be brave and do it for you because no one else will.
Sure, feeling stuck or trapped where you are sucks when you’re not enjoying yourself, but sometimes you just have to grit your teeth and get on with it. If it’s where you want to be, remember that it will be worth it. If it’s not, it’s up to you to change your path. “Life’s what you make it!”

10 Secrets of Becoming a Successful Entrepreneur
Here's what I came up with, a Top 10 List:
10. You must be passionate about what you are trying to achieve.
That means you’re willing to sacrifice a large part of your waking hours to the idea you’ve come up with. Passion will ignite the same intensity in others who join you as you build a team to succeed in this endeavor. And with passion, both your team and your customers are more likely to truly believe in what you are trying to do.9. Great entrepreneurs focus intensely on an opportunity where others see nothing.
This focus and intensity help eliminate wasted effort and distractions. Most companies die from indigestion rather than starvation, i.e., companies suffer from doing too many things at the same time rather than doing too few things very well. Stay focused on the mission.8. Success comes only from hard work.
We all know that there is no such thing as overnight success. Behind every overnight success lie years of hard work and sweat. People with luck will tell you there’s no easy way to achieve success--and that luck comes to those who work hard. Successful entrepreneurs always give 100% of their efforts to everything they do. If you know you are giving your best effort, you’ll never have any reason for regrets. Focus on things you can control; stay focused on your efforts, and let the results be what they will be.7. The road to success is going to be long, so remember to enjoy the journey.
Everyone will teach you to focus on goals, but successful people focus on the journey and celebrate the milestones along the way. Is it worth spending a large part of your life trying to reach the destination if you didn’t enjoy the journey? Won’t the team you attract to join you on your mission also enjoy the journey more? Wouldn’t it be better for all of you to have the time of your life during the journey, even if the destination is never reached?6. Trust your gut instinct more than any spreadsheet.
There are too many variables in the real world that you simply can’t put into a spreadsheet. Spreadsheets spit out results from your inexact assumptions and give you a false sense of security. In most cases, your heart and gut are still your best guide. The human brain works as a binary computer and can analyze only the exact information-based zeros and ones (or black and white). Our heart is more like a chemical computer that uses fuzzy logic to analyze information that can’t be easily defined in zeros and ones. We’ve all had experiences in business where our heart told us something was wrong while our brain was still trying to use logic to figure it all out. Sometimes a faint voice based on instinct resonates far more strongly than overpowering logic.5. Be flexible but persistent--every entrepreneur has to be agile to perform.
You have to continuously learn and adapt as new information becomes available. At the same time, you have to remain persistent to the cause and mission of your enterprise. That’s where that faint voice becomes so important, especially when it is giving you early warning signals that things are going off track. Successful entrepreneurs find the balance between listening to that voice and staying persistent in driving for success--because sometimes success is waiting right across from the transitional bump that’s disguised as failure.4. Rely on your team. It’s a simple fact: No individual can be good at everything.
Everyone needs people who have complementary sets of skills. Entrepreneurs are an optimistic bunch, and it’s very hard for them to believe that they are not good at certain things. It takes a lot of soul searching to find your own core skills and strengths. After that, find the smartest people you can who complement your strengths. It’s easy to get attracted to people who are like you; the trick is to find people who are not like you but who are good at what they do--and what you can’t do.3. Execution, execution, execution.
Unless you are the smartest person on earth (and who is), it’s likely that many others have thought about doing the same thing you’re trying to do. Success doesn’t necessarily come from breakthrough innovation but from flawless execution. A great strategy alone won’t win a game or a battle; the win comes from basic blocking and tackling. All of us have seen entrepreneurs who waste too much time writing business plans and preparing PowerPoints. I believe that a business plan is too long if it’s more than one page. Besides, things never turn out exactly the way you envisioned them. No matter how much time you spend perfecting the plan, you still have to adapt according to the ground realities. You’re going to learn a lot more useful information from taking action rather than hypothesizing. Remember: Stay flexible, and adapt as new information becomes available.2. I can’t imagine anyone ever achieving long-term success without having honesty and integrity.
These two qualities need to be at the core of everything we do. Everybody has a conscience, but too many people stop listening to it. There is always that faint voice that warns you when you are not being completely honest or even slightly off track from the path of integrity. Be sure to listen to that voice.1. Success is a long journey and much more rewarding if you give back.
By the time you get to success, lots of people will have helped you along the way. You’ll learn, as I have, that you rarely get a chance to help the people who helped you, because in most cases, you don’t even know who they were. The only way to pay back the debts we owe is to help people we can help--and hope they will go on to help more people. When we are successful, we draw so much from the community and society that we live in that we should think in terms of how we can help others in return. Sometimes it’s just a matter of being kind to people. Other times, offering a sympathetic ear or a kind word is all that’s needed. It’s our responsibility to do “good” with the resources we have available.Measuring Success
I hope you have internalized the secrets of becoming a successful entrepreneur. The next question you are likely to ask yourself is: How do we measure success? Success, of course, is very personal; there is no universal way of measuring success. What do successful people like Bill Gates and Mother Teresa have in common? On the surface, it’s hard to find anything they share-;and yet both are successful. I personally believe the real metric of success isn’t the size of your bank account. It’s the number of lives in which you might be able to make a positive difference. This is the measure of success we need to apply while we are on our journey to success.Thursday, 8 May 2014
6 Things to avoid before bed time
6 Things You Should Always Avoid Before Bedtime
Source
Have you not been getting enough sleep? Do you know that not getting enough sleep it can really harm your health? Do you know it can also lead to weight gain? Then if you also don’t want to weaken your immune system, or make yourself feel foggy the next day. I would suggest you go through the researched things which you should avoid before going to bed. Please my dear readers, i always entertain your contributions in addition to the 6 tips I’ve culled up in this article. Thanks and please share it with friends and drop your comments below:
1. Eat Greasy or High-Fat Foods: Greasy, heavy fatty foods not only make you feel sluggish the next morning, but also make your stomach work overtime to digest all that food, causing discomfort that can make it difficult to sleep. Stay away from fast food, ice cream, and these other foods right before bed.
2. Stare at a Screen: Surfing the web on your laptop or iPad in bed is what many people do right before saying goodnight, but the blue light these devices emit stimulates the brain, making it harder for the body to unwind, relax, and sense that it’s time for bed. Even watching your favorite show on TV can cost you a good night’s sleep. If you want to get lost in something, open a relaxing book, or meditate instead.
3. Do Intense Cardio: Exercising regularly is the key to sleeping well at night, but hitting the gym right before you’re about to snooze isn’t the best idea. Aside from needing to eat right after, it revs up your heart rate and your energy levels, making it difficult for your body and mind to settle down enough to fall asleep. For a better night of Z’s, finish your workout three hours before you plan to hit the hay.
4. Work Late: If you have a big meeting in the morning or a project due at the end of the week, getting some work done after dinner may ease your mind. Just be sure to put your work away at least an hour before going to sleep to give your brain a break, so you can go to sleep feeling calm, not hyped up or anxious about tomorrow’s deadlines.
5. Drink Caffeine: The caffeine found in coffee, tea, and even chocolate is a stimulant that can keep you up longer than you planned. How much caffeine your body can handle depends on you, but a good rule of thumb is to put that cup of joe down a few hours before bed. The same goes for alcohol. Drinking a glass of vino too close to bedtime – or drinking two or three – will prevent you from having a restful night of sleep (even if you pass out fast).
6. Get Emotionally Wound Up: Bickering with your sister on the phone, watching a disturbing show on TV, or reading an emotionally taxing book isn’t exactly helping you on the road to relaxation. Prevent getting your nerves and emotions wound up by engaging in calming activities like reading a light novel, sipping herbal tea, taking a hot bath, or doing some of these gentle stretches in bed.
